If we want to look at it from that perspective, grades and GPAs and all that ‘academic’ stuff aren’t synonymous with intelligence either. And being in an AP class in high school is very indicative of academic excellence for high school students who (surprisingly, anon, surprisingly!) haven’t been to college yet.
